Position summary:  Primarily responsible to provide excellent support to the Director of Supply Chain and excellent customer service to all associates and visitors by receiving, shipping, counting, and accurate and appropriate storing of materials and products.  The Shipping Receiving Manager for Café Valley will coordinate with the production department to follow schedules to ensure the production needs are being met by shipping the departments their materials needed to run.  In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring the department is trained to operate equipment properly and maintaining a high focus on safety.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for inventory accuracy at set goals.
  • Responsible for obtaining company goals/standards inventory accuracy, OSCOT, fill rate, OSHA recordable’s, sanitation inspection adherence, timely loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Participate in the budgeting process for the department and operating within that budget.
  • Responsible for process improvements.
  • Responsible for supplying production with quality ingredients, and packaging in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for daily production reconciliation with production manager.
  • Responsible for obtaining Companywide goals (production, sales, etc.…)
  • Train new associates in the policies and procedures for warehouse associates.
  • Participate in month-end or similar inventory projects.  Must be able to provide accurate, reliable, and timely counts.
  • Drives electric-powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices, such as forklift, lift beam, and elevating platform (scissor-lift) to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, move products, equipment, or materials in warehouse, freezers, coolers, storage yard, inside manufacturing areas.
  • Visible and available in warehouse to assemble customer orders, monitor the receiving, storage, and distribution of all items received either from suppliers or production ensuring that materials and supplies are located and distributed to proper areas in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Fill out quality related records and follow pre-set procedures for non-compliance.
  • Monitors the unloading of all materials into the warehouse.
  • Ensure materials are staged for counting and inspecting.
  • Monitors product received on the dock by reviewing paperwork and signing Purchasing Orders of approval.
  • Regularly count items with highest usage and report on counts.
  • Ensures daily flow of paperwork from receiving to accounting and purchasing.
  • Monitors performance of movement of supplies/materials from dock/trailers to the warehouse in an efficient, effective and safe manner.
  • Monitors materials supplied to production and packaging, staging materials for them as needed.
  • Monitors the proper tagging of materials/finished product to assure the rotation of inventories; proper rotation upon receipt of product from supplier; proper rotation when issuing product.
  • Implementation and management of required safety regulations. 
  • Working knowledge of transportation management, including load building, routing, carrier communication, etc.
  • Required to work flexible hours and schedule changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Physical demands:  While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, use hands to finger, grasp, or feel objects, talk, hear, and visually inspect.  Exposure to whole body vibration caused by rigid construction of forklift.  Prolonged sitting, overexertion of hands and arms when driving standing pallet jacks, frequent back turning of head and neck stretching while driving in reverse or with loads obstructing field of vision.  Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment:  Medium work exerting up to 50lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 20lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs. of force constantly to move objects.  Floor in manufacturing areas may be slippery due to production debris on floor.  There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications required:
    • Minimum of five (5) years experience working in warehouse shipping and receiving department in a supervisory or management position.
    • Forklift operator certification or license to safely operate a forklift.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals with extreme accuracy.
    • Must be able to perform simple conversions between various units of measurement.
    • Ability to follow written, oral, detailed, or general instructions.
    • Ability to apply commonsense understanding.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • Ability to train new associates and recognize the progress or further needs of the trainee.
    • Ability to maneuver electrically powered trucks and large items in a safe manner that will not put oneself or others at risk of injury.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain an outstanding relationship with different groups of people including vendors, distributors, sales, R&D and marketing.
  • Excellent team working abilities and the capacity to direct and coach others
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment in the related areas.
  • Experience with ambient and temperature controlled dock/warehouse environments.
  • Working knowledge of GMP’s, OSHA requirements, etc.
