The Assistant Director of Nursing will assist in the oversight of the delivery of care and overall quality of services provided by our agency, and to participate in the training and supervision of direct care staff. The Assistant Director of Nursing works closely with other members of the agency leadership team to execute BrightStar Care’s promise of a higher standard of premium person-centered care from companion level services to skilled care.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordination of care for the client, identification of all clients’ needs through the assessment process, and implementation of the plan of care and supervisory process.
  • Effectively communicates with families, community partners and other health care providers to ensure adequacy of services provided and supervision of staff.
  • Prepares clinical and progress notes and summaries of care.
  • Conducts the clinical portion of weekly orientation for new caregiving  staff.
  • Compliance/Promotion of the standards of quality set forth by BrightStar Care® and the Joint Commission.
  • Conducts and manages monthly audits of employee and client files using the company-provided audit forms.
  • Promotes home health referrals in the health care community.
  • Oversees the maintenance of client clinical records, statistics, reports, and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of organization activities.
  • Assists in the development of organization goals. Develops, recommends, and administers agency policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the ongoing assessment, skill, and competency review of the care staff to ensure quality care and high level of performance.
  • Assists with the supervision, education, and coaching other nursing personnel/care-giving staff.
  • Plans and implements in-service and training programs.
  • Stays informed about changes in the field of nursing and home health care. Shares information with appropriate organization personnel.
  • Provides direct patient care as defined within the scope of the state’s nurse practice act.
  • In the absence of a Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing will be responsible for assuming the role of interim Director of Nursing.
  • Addendum: 50%-70% billable time in the field, with 50%-30% administrative duties. Attends living room visits with DON, or marketing team 

Qualifications

  • Current unrestricted RN license in state for which care is being provided.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum one (1) year of documented experience required. Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical experience with one (1) year experience in a home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility, preferred.
  • Reliable car/auto insurance.
  • Clean background and criminal record.
  • Understands regulatory compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Joint Commission experience a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Travel would include various sales, marketing, and client care service needs and attending conferences and planning meetings.
