The billing associate will assist in a successful revenue cycle management of the company’s centralized billing and reimbursement group located in Houston, Texas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Billing Associate duties include:

  • Ensuring that all assigned claims billed to an insurance carrier reach resolution  
  • Performing medical insurance follow-up with Medicare, Medicaid, Medi-Cal, and HMO/IPA insurances
  • Overseeing insurance denials and ensuring appropriate action and follow-up are completed
  • Meeting set goals in reduction of open AR
  • Coordinating communication of requirements for coverage for specific insurance companies
  • Reviewing eligibility discrepancies
  • Ensuring claims meet timely filing requirements
  • Drafting appeal correspondence
  • Assisting patients with questions on insurance and benefits
  • Responding to general questions from patients, staff and others regarding insurance coverage and authorizations
  • Assisting executive team in identifying trends in rejection results with various insurance carriers
  • Participating in Performance Improvement activities


Billing Associate requirements:

  • Must have a High School Diploma / GED
  • Must have roughly 5 to 10 years of Part B healthcare billing experience with direct DME Coding experience
  • Must have Hands-on experience with HCPC Codes is a must and Texas Medicaid is a PLUS
  • Must have strong experience with Medicare and Texas Medicaid MCO providers
  • Must have strong experience with Public and Private Insurance providers
  • Must have hands-on experience using Brightree and other eBilling systems
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work independently in a productive, goal-oriented manner
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology
