Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Chemical Operator monitors and controls the Melt Phase and Solid Stated Polymerization Process in a continuous manufacturing process environment at our CA – Columbia (Gaston, SC) facility.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Monitors operating parameters by reading gauges, instruments, and meters. Compares readings to known requirements, logs information, and takes action as necessary.
  • Collects and submits appropriate samples for analysis. Uses analytical and/or process trends to determine whether re-sampling or process adjustments are needed.
  • Responds and reacts to any alarms within operating area.
  • Utilizes job knowledge, equipment specification sheets, and operating procedures to monitor and make adjustments to the process.
  • Starts up and shuts down process equipment using written procedures.
  • Knowledge in operation and purpose of equipment such as reactors, pumps, condensers, filters, compressors, and dryers in order to maintain operation of a top quality facility.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in a related technical vocational college or higher and/or 2+ year’s chemical operator/handler experience at a manufacturing plant.
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Possess good troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Working knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, pressures, and computerized controls systems is desired.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills in communication, listening, and good safety practices
  • Proficient with computers
  • Strong initiative, team player, and positive attitude

This job requires working 12 hour rotating shifts while standing for long periods of time. Employees must be able to work scheduled (planned) days and unscheduled (unplanned/short notice) hours on off days as needed to meet business needs.

We offer excellent pay and skills based pay progression system. This is an hourly position and benefits eligibility starts on your first day of employment.
