Reporting in to the CEO, the Controller will oversee all financial operations within the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role will be instrumental in driving financial performance, optimizing resources, and supporting the company’s strategic initiatives.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Financial Management: Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry standards.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and prepare forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze manufacturing costs and recommend improvements to optimize efficiency and profitability in production processes.
  • Internal Controls: Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Team Leadership: Represent the company as a member of the Leadership team. Mentor team members working with you in a matrix environment, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes professional growth and excellence.
  • Audit Coordination: Liaise with external auditors during the annual audit process, ensuring timely completion and compliance with all requirements.
  • Financial Analysis: Provide financial analysis and insights to the executive team, supporting business initiatives and capital expenditures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements related to financial practices, including tax filings and industry-specific regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in the optical, retail or durable goods industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations.  Financial regulation knowledge relevant to the optical industry highly preferred/
  • Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Quickbooks systems is a plus.
