Job Duties and Responsibilities
Cook Responsibilities
- Plan daily cooking schedule to meet deadlines; follow standardized recipes
- Direct the work of assistants and aides in a professional manner
- Prepare and serve meals per menus, physician orders, resident preferences and therapeutic diet spreadsheet
- Ensure food is served at proper temperatures; record temperatures
- Make proper food substitutions within food groups as directed
- Clean, sanitize and cover kitchen equipment; prepare for the following day’s menu
Qualifications
Cook Qualifications
- Completion of culinary school
- Able to read and write, follow recipes and use measurements; English proficient
- Basic experience in cooking and understand the fundamentals of therapeutic dietsĀ
- Ability to plan, organize and meet servicing deadlines
- Complete CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program
- Minimum 2 years as a cook in a nursing home or hospital setting preferred
