Elliott Bay Marina is the West Coast’s largest premier marina providing moorage facilities for boaters from around the Puget Sound. Offering world class amenities and facilities just minutes from Downtown Seattle, we are currently seeking a dockhand to work our swing shift hours (3:30pm-11:30pm) on Sundays and Mondays. The dockhand position assists in the day to day operation of the Elliott Bay Marina moorage facility by providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assigning guest moorage, walking docks, giving docking help to customers, payment processing, grounds keeping, facility cleaning, and maintaining a safe and secure environment at all times. This role requires that the highest level of service be given to each customer; a background in customer service is greatly valued. Previous experience or knowledge of boats is also helpful, but not required. The number of hours per week varies based on the season; you can expect between 24-40 hours/week depending on your preference and demand.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist boats with docking and undocking
  2. Secure water and electrical supply to boats as required. Check dock lines and utility supplies as necessary during changing weather conditions.
  3. Fuel boats within safety requirements and assistance with taking on of supplies, water, battery charging, etc. (knowledge of proper fuel, oils, etc. essential).
  4. Maintain Marina Docks, equipment, and grounds
  5. Mark all boat owners’ loose items (carpets, rafts, bimini tops) before storing or servicing boats.  
  6. Ensure customer’s vessels are clean. Hatches, hatch lids, and drain alleyways are clean. Glass and bright work area spot free.
  7. Assistance as required in general Marina maintenance and repairs. (alertness for safety related repairs or needs).
  8. Assist with customer’s departure, fueling, ice or any other service they may need.
  9. Assistance as assigned in hurricane or storm preparation.
  10. Know applications of radio, hurricane, storm, fire, first aid, freeze and oil spill procedures.
  11. Knowledge of Marina dockage rates.
  12. Knowledge of Marina regulations and enforcement procedures.
  13. Must be responsible individuals who will present themselves well to the boaters since they will have the most contact with the boaters and public.
  14. Any other duties as assigned by the Marina Management.

Qualifications

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Able to lift 50lbs
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to swim
  • Must be 21 years of age
