Monitors assigned foster homes and the delivery of services to assigned children in the foster care program. Ensures that foster homes continue to meet State licensing, program (LOS) and contract standards. Ensures that assigned foster care records contain appropriate documentation, provides liaison with referral sources, providers and consultants.
Shift/Work Hours: 40 hours per week; overtime and on-call work as needed or required to maintain and monitor care above and beyond the standards established by the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).
Job description
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and maintains treatment plans that address identified needs and ensures the comprehensive implementation of the plan. Ensures that plans are updated as necessary with proper notice to all participants.
- Meets regularly with children placed in care and foster parents to assess level of progress and satisfaction with the program / placement.
- Provides assistance to foster parents through treatment and training plans and connections with other support systems.
- Ensures assigned families meet agency policies, LOS standards and TDFPS minimum standards.
- Transports children to visits and appointments as needed.
- Advocates for foster parents and foster children with the managing conservator, school systems, courts, and HHH.
- Assist with scheduled chart reviews to ensure compliance with State licensing, and contract standards of regulating/accrediting bodies.
- Assist with foster care support groups and foster parent training, which happens on Saturdays (once a month).
- Facilitate and participate, as needed, in the assessment and admission process.
- Intervene in crisis situations as needed (assisting with a combative child, potential suicide attempts, runaway, angry family, etc.).
- Participate in on-call coverage system.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships between CPS staff, law enforcement officials, judicial officials, legal resources, medical professionals and other community resources.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Possess knowledge and proficiency in SAMA techniques (Satori Alternative to Managing Aggression).
- Basic proficiency utilizing personal computers, including basic word processing and menu driven applications.
- Ability to use up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or a small amount of force continuously to move objects.
- Work may deal with areas such as preparing and reading data and figures and visual inspection involving small details.
- Ability to perform moderately difficult manipulation such as writing, typing, foot, and hand-eye coordination required.
- Ability to receive verbal instructions, answer phones, etc. with some background noise.
- Ability to access and coordinate services.
- Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to organize and prioritize duties/responsibilities efficiently.
- Ability to communicate clearly both in written and spoken form.
- Maintain current license/certification/training in Texas.
- Maintains CPR/First Aid certification, if applicable.
- Presents and maintains professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to adhere to the Helping Hand Home for Children’s confidentiality policy.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision; exercise good judgment and professionalism.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree – degree specific to Social Work or other human services field preferred.
- One year of child placing experience under direct supervision of a person fully qualified as a Child Placement Management Staff is preferred.
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
- Must have your own reliable transportation, with insurance that complies with HHH’s insurance carrier requirements, as you will often be driving clients.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
