Under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) performs as a licensed care giver and assumes responsibility and accountability for clients well-being.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
- Provide appropriate nursing services and education to clients.
- Observe, record, and reports to the appropriate person any symptoms, reactions and changes in a client’s condition.
- Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures
- Receives and transcribes physician order to client charts.
- Chart nursing notes in an informative and descriptive manner reflecting the care provided and the response to that care.
- Participate in report at shift change.
- Administer Mantoux upon admission.
- Complete scheduled weekly updates.
- Complete scheduled chart audits.
- Maintain complicacy with the Minnesota Department of Health regulations.
- Attends and participates in staff in-services and meetings.
- Nurses may not admit, transfer, or discharge clients. They may be directed to follow through with the process of implementation of the above by the director or designee.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must have an LPN license.
- Minimum 1 yr experience in a chemical dependency facility and
- 2-3 years related experience required, or
- any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Must know or be willing to receive training on all parts and the implications of MN Statute 245G as well as all other required rules and regulations.
- Must document 12 hours of training in co-occurring mental health problems and chemical abuse of dependency that includes competencies related to philosophy, screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning, documentation, programming, medication, collaboration, mental health consultation, discharge planning.
- Know and understand the implications of all Minnesota Department of Health regulations.
- CPR and first aid certified.
- On-going training on of cultural awareness and demonstration of sensitivity to various cultural norms and values.
- Computer literate.
- Strong verbal skills and ability to communicate abstract concepts in a simple format
- Ability to communicate with a variety of people from diverse cultures, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.
- Flexibility to meet a variety of changing priorities
- Computer skills to draft emails, memos, and reporting
