Job Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Functions and Accountabilities

Clinical Duties:

  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking vital signs, assurance of complete medical intake, and other relevant information
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor surgical procedures
  • Preparation of laboratory and pathology specimens for submission
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician
  • Remove sutures and change dressings
  • Instruct patients on diet, self-care protocols and exercise as directed by a physician

Administrative Duties:

  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments
  • Maintain and update patient medical records
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including phone calls, emails, and faxes
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure exam rooms are stocked

Patient Interaction:

  • Greet and register patients
  • Provide information to patients regarding procedures, medications, and follow-up care
  • Address patient inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally

Compliance and Safety:

  • Adhere to all healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Assist in maintaining OSHA and HIPAA compliance

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and procedures
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
  • Previous experience as a medical assistant or in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
