Jay Chavda, MD PA has been serving patients in the Houston area for more 30 years. He specializes in Ear, Nose, and Throat care, but can also extend to hearing services, physical therapy, and allergy treatment for his patients. The clinic also is family-owned and operated, and the staff atmosphere is very cooperative. This robust clinic sees anywhere from 20-40 patients per day, not including allergy shots, in-office examinations, physical therapy appointments, and hearing and balance testing.
We are looking for a competitive PA, which a strong sense of work ethic, who is interested in working in a busy specialty clinic. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, as a large population of our patients are strictly Spanish speakers, but employment does not depend on it.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ health and their demands and aim to fulfill them as well as possible
- Issue appropriate prescriptions and administer medicine
- Inform physicians about any problems or discrepancies that might arise
- Acquire and review patient histories identifying abnormal conditions
- Monitor patients’ progress and keep records of treatments, surgeries or other medical events
- Prepare patients for examinations and conduct routine procedures (measure blood pressure and temperature, administer injections etc)
- Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for the patients
- Comply strictly with medical care regulations and safety standards
- Collaborate effectively with team members of various specializations
Skills
- Proven work experience as a physician assistant or nurse
- Knowledge of medical guidelines and procedures regarding examination, therapy and recovery
- Familiarity with advancements in medical technology and current know-how
- Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task
- Caring and compassionate
- Team player with good communication skills
- BSc/MA in Physician Assistant Studies, Health Science or Medical Science
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with clinicians, evaluating/diagnosing incoming patients
- Create patient treatment plans; order testing
- Appraise and keep clinicians up-to-date on client progress
- Provide patients with information that encourages ongoing healthy habits
- Upon goal completions, discharge client
- Assist clinicians as they perform evaluation and diagnosis of new patients
- Order diagnostic tests as needed
- Develop and contribute to plans of treatment
- Regularly evaluate and update clinicians on patient progress
- Discharge patients when goals have been achieved
- Educate patients on healthy practices that promote continued improvement
Qualifications
- Up-to-date NP or PA license
- 1+ year(s) related experience
- Pathology (diagnostic, treatment, medication) knowledge
- Effective communicator; advanced interpersonal proficiency. Preference for bilingual (Spanish) candidates will be considered.
- Compassionate about clients and their families
- Able to effectively work with various team members
- Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- At least 1 year of experience in a related healthcare field
- Advanced knowledge of pathologies commonly seen in clinics, including diagnosing factors, treatments and medications
- Excellent interpersonal skills; good communication via phone, electronic email, and face-to-face
- Works well as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Possess empathy for patients and family members
