We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Corporate Occupational Health Services team to provide onsite support for our Richmond, IN manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate for the Occupational Health Site Nurse is self-driven with strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to provide excellent hands on care to their worksite’s employees while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in their record keeping.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Occupational Health Site Nurse will be reportable to the Corporate Medical Director and is responsible for representing the Health Services Department consistent with the company’s core values. The position will be the worksite(s) primary medical resource with oversight and support provided other members of the Health Services Team, with the following responsibilities:
- Promote the physical, mental, and social well-being of Alpek Polyester USA’s workforce
- Responsible for maintenance and confidentiality of medical records
- Manage short- and long-term disability and workers compensation cases
- Responsible for follow-up and assisting with return to work and temporary modified duty issues.
- Assist with administrative aspects of FMLA cases ( i.e. Obtaining Health Care Certification Form from providers) and tracking hours. Perform/collect urine drug screen samples utilizing chain of custody procedures.
- Perform employee health examinations and screenings including:
- Check and monitor vital signs and biometrics (height, weight, BMI, BP readings),
- Alcohol screening using saliva sampling methods,
- Respiratory fit testing using quantitative methods, annual audiograms, return to work evaluations and assist with accommodation issues,
- Testing for Medical surveillance programs’ members (ERT members, Hazmat, Confined Space and Mobile Equipment Operators). Testing can include audiograms, vital signs, vision testing, bloodwork, EKG, spirometry testing and completion of health-related questionnaire.
- Schedule Pre-placement physicals with contract physician/PA/NP.
- Assess and assist employees with referrals to Employee Assistance Program for issues of substance abuse, counseling needs, financial and legal problems.
- Provide immunizations to select employees to include but not limited to: Tetanus, Diphtheria, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, COVID-19, Whooping Cough, and Seasonal Influenza.
- Develop and Implement various Health Promotion Programs for assigned site(s).
- Provide on-site evaluation and treatment of some minor non-occupational medical conditions, primarily using first aid measures (i.e. headaches, colds, muscle strains, and joint sprains, etc.) – refer to Nursing Standing Orders/Protocols). Dispense over-the-counter medications and provide/fit durable medical equipment for same.
- Treat any life-threatening emergency condition for purpose of saving life and stabilizing serious condition prior to transport to clinic or hospital setting off site.
- Routine dressing/re-dressing of wounds as prescribed.
- May include application of CPR, or utilization of AED unit.
- Provide designated weekly reports, special status reports, and medical records to the Corporate Medical Manager or their assistant upon request.
- May include provision of care via telehealth/virtual platforms as needed with Corporate Medical Manager or other Physicians.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
To perform this job successfully the individual must have the following or equivalent:
- RN Degree required.
- 3+ years of Occupational Health Nursing experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written & verbal) skills.
- Able to work independently.
- Ability to manage good balance between business needs and patient care needs.
- Excellent nursing knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrated computer, analytical, organizational and presentation skills.
- Regular and reliable attendance expected.
Preferred:
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist (COHN-S)
- Audiometric testing and Pulmonary function testing certifications
- Case management skills (Disability and Workers Comp. cases)
