The Courtyard by Marriott at Exit 407 in Sevierville/Kodak, TN, has the position of Operations Manager available for a person with a strong background in customer service and day to day hotel operations.

This individual will be responsible for assisting the General Manager in managing the day to day operation of the hotel. This position should take strong pride in developing employees and providing excellent service to our guests.

The Operations Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing all operational activities and departments in the hotel in the General Manager absence in order to maximize revenue, deliver a positive guest experience, and provide exceptional customer service for the guests.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, scheduling, assigning, directing, and reviewing associate’s work.
  • Attends and occasionally conducts staff meetings appropriately.
  • Adheres to all franchise and company procedures and regulations
  • Strives to increase the level of guest satisfaction by delivery of an improved product through employee development and quality image.
  • Addresses complaints, identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; may develop alternative solutions; uses reason when dealing with emotional topics and/or situations.
  • Leads the development and implementation of goals, policies, procedures, and priorities relating to the area(s) of responsibility.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Gibson Hotel Management policies and procedures, applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Performs quality assurance (QA) requirements for areas of responsibility.
  • Thoroughly understands and implements the Brand Service Culture.
  • Ensures orientation for new team members is thorough and completed in a timely manner.
  • Remains highly visible and readily available and approachable for all guests and employees.
  • Always extends professionalism and courtesy to guests.
  • Creates a hotel environment that emphasizes motivation, empowerment, teamwork and a passion for providing exceptional service.
  • Leads by example demonstrating self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm.
  • Sets clear expectations for team members; communicates goals and results; recognizes good team and individual performance on a continuous basis.
  • Encourages staff to solve guest and associate related concerns.
  • Develops cross-training opportunities.
  • Accounting functions, including but not limited to accounts payable and receivable, petty cash, and ordering procedures.
  • Approves Schedules appropriately to meet demand and budget goals.
  • Performs all shift checklist responsibilities.
  • Supports team members to ensure their entire workload is completed daily.
  • Covers shift gaps or call-outs in various departments as needed.
  • Review and approve electronic timecard weekly for accuracy.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • 1-2 years of leadership/management experience preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of hospitality experience is preferred.
  • College degree preferred but not required.
