Cross-Fire & Security Co., an Altus Fire & Life Safety Company, located in Astoria, NY is looking for a Central Station Monitor & FDNY Expeditor to join our team!
As an FDNY Expeditor at Cross Fire, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of expediting services related to the New York City Fire Department. Your primary function is to ensure timely and compliant submissions, inspections, and approvals for all FDNY-regulated matters across active and upcoming projects. This role is critical in maintaining regulatory compliance, project timelines, and clear communication with FDNY officials.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Central Station Monitoring
- Monitor fire alarm, sprinkler, security, and life-safety systems
- Respond to alarm events in accordance with established emergency procedures
- Notify property owners, building managers, and designated contacts
- Document all alarm activity, responses, and system issues
- Identify false alarms or system malfunctions and escalate appropriately
- Perform routine testing and signal verification
- Maintain compliance with UL, FDNY, and company standards
FDNY Expeditor Duties
- Prepare, submit, and track FDNY applications for fire alarm, sprinkler, standpipe, and suppression systems
- Coordinate and schedule FDNY inspections and witness tests
- Communicate with FDNY plan examiners, inspectors, and administrative staff
- Resolve objections, violations, and filing issues
- Maintain organized records of permits, approvals, and inspections
- Ensure compliance with NYC Fire Code and Building Code requirements
Qualifications
•High school diploma or GED required
•Experience in central station monitoring and/or FDNY expediting preferred
•Working knowledge of FDNY codes, procedures, and filing systems (FDNY Business, DOB NOW)
•Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
•Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
•Proficiency with computers, monitoring software, and office applications
•Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, or holidays as needed
