Palmetto Retina Center, a busy 10 MD ophthalmology practice specializing in retina diseases is currently seeking a responsible, self-motivated individual to oversee the general administrative functions and activities of our Northeast Columbia, SC and Sumter, SC offices. This position reports to the Practice Administrator.

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities
•Oversees the daily work activities and practice operations.
•May handle or assist with discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.  
•Coordinate regular staff meetings and performance reviews
•Hire, train, and monitor administrative staff

Duties/ Responsibilities
•Performs or facilitates maintenance of office equipment including cleaning, maintenance, and repairs.
•Provides support when needed to all positions within the practice such as answering phones, checking in and checking out patients, working as technician.
•Maintains inventory of office supplies; orders new supplies as needed.
•Maintains office files; Organize patient records using electronic health records keeping
•Interact with patients and address complaints.
•Collaborate with Physicians to develop business strategies and patient services
•Ensures policies and best practices are up to industry standards and government regulations.
•Monitor the inventory for medications, medical equipment, and organize for resupply
•Responsible for the financial performance of the office
•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
•Associate’s degree in office administration or related field required, bachelor’s degree in office administration or related field preferred.
•At least three years of administrative and clerical experience required.

•Extensive knowledge of office management procedures.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
•Computer literacy and knowledge of relevant health care and administrative software
•In-depth knowledge of healthcare finance best practices and standards
•Understanding of health and safety standards in the medical industry

Physical requirements:
Ability to view patient images and operate computer devices, frequent use of a computer terminal.  Ability to communicate via speech and hearing.  Must be able to stand, walk, bend at knees and waist, raise arms over head, & lift up to 35 lbs with or without a reasonable accommodation. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
