Job Duties and Responsibilities

Optometry Practice Manager job responsibilities include:

  • Maintain, track and drive revenue and growth metrics
  • Create workflow efficiencies through management of staffing ratios and scheduling, reinforced by training and process of technicians and opticians
  • Apply leadership, creative & critical thinking and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Insurance verifications/authorizations, claims and adjudication process
  • End of day cash handling procedures, close-out, and reporting
  • Manage staff schedules, and time and attendance reporting for payroll processing
  • Manage practice expenditures by ensuring that all purchases are invoiced correctly, credits are received, and discounts are given.  Collect and compare invoices to monthly statements
  • Troubleshoot with manufacturers when Medical equipment or systems go down
  • Coordinate with IT regarding office equipment issues
  • Monitor and maintain office/medical supplies


Optometry Practice Manager required skills & qualifications include: 

  • Previous experience in location-based healthcare services practice management (optometry practice a plus)
  • Licensed Optician a plus
  • Outstanding leadership skills
  • Ability to identify, hire, train and retain excellent talent in support of a growing organization
