Primarily responsible for assisting with the commercialization of new products, product improvements, supporting improvement initiatives, training, and supervising R&D Techs.  The R&D Supervisor will work to support the R&D Technical Services team in the process of testing, validating, commercializing new products, and assisting with system-wide implementation of consistent methodology.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Understand and work to ensure that company GMPs are followed in daily Production
Understand process control documents, and work to ensure processes are followed in daily Production.
Collect information necessary to write process control documents for new products and update information in existing documents
Have a broad understanding of production equipment and settings
Supporting cleanliness, organization, monitoring temperature and control of product storage and monitoring product expiration.  Support cleaning & sterilization of equipment.  Report maintenance or calibration issues
Follow project objectives and strategies in response to business initiatives
Follow appropriate timelines for project delivery
Assist with plant-scale production trials
Support next-step actions of experiments and product development
Document data for new products based on lab development and plant trials
Act as a technical resource for the cross functional teams
Support technical services role in assigned projects
Manage product development for technical projects and operational functions as stipulated by Research and Development Management
Support the development, use- and sharing of best practice across all departments
Support lab formula samples with an eye to key manufacturer’s capabilities working toward realistic commercialization of new products
Recognize and understand significance of problems and propose solutions

Qualifications

Minimum 4 years related experience in bakery, pastry, or culinary industry
3 years prior management experience
Demonstrated technical achievement in the development of laminated dough (i.e., croissants, danish, cinnamon rolls and associated products) and/or development of batter based products for the foodservice and in- store bakery markets
Good knowledge of product development process and methodologies
Proven ability to keep accurate, organized records
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Bachelor’s degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, AIB coursework to include Advanced Baking Technology, or equivalent work experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills and problem-solving skills
Proven effectiveness in team communication and interpersonal skills
Strong interpersonal skills to maintain an outstanding relationship with different groups of people including production, FSQA, Maintenance, Warehouse and Sanitation teams
