In conjunction with the Program Coordinator, this position will assist in the supervision and facilitate day-to day activities such as transportation and provide training of new Recovery Specialist staff. To help the clients have a positive and successful recovery by making sure the client understands his/her responsibilities in the program and giving guidance when needed

Pay: $18 – $30 Hourly
Shift: Full-Time, 1st shift

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Assist with daily activities of clients
• Lead and facilitate day-to-day activities, such as transportation
• Provide training of new staff
• To transport clients for admission, discharge, medical appointment, etc.
• To provide orientation to new clients and check in personal property.
• Will provide for the safety of the clients by monitoring their whereabouts by making rounds including all
areas described in the Program Abuse Prevention Plan and overnight bed checks.
• Complete a DAANES reports as directed.
• Interact with clients whenever possible.
• Attend shift change report meetings.
• Chart interaction with clients and observations made in client’s record.
• Attend staff meetings and In-service trainings.
• Distribute medications and other duties as directed and as assigned by Nurse Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Paraprofessionals may not admit, transfer, or discharge clients. They may be directed to follow through
with the process of implementation of the above by the director or designee.

Qualifications

Required:
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Have the ability to work independently.
• TMA Certification
• Possess a valid driver license.
• The ability to drive a vehicle continuously for up to three hours.
• The ability to lift and move objects weighing a minimum of 25 pounds.
• Must know and understand the implication of parts 9530.6405 to 9530.6505 (Rule 31), and Minnesota
Statutes, chapter 245A (Human Services Licensing Act-HSLA), sections 626.556 (Maltreatment of Minors
Act-MOMA), 626.557 (Vulnerable Act-VAA), and 626.5572 (VAA definitions).
• CPR and first aid certified.
• A minimum of two-year freedom from chemical abuse problems
• On-going training on of cultural awareness and demonstration of sensitivity to various cultural norms and
values.
• Computer literate.

Preferred:
• Strong verbal skills and ability to communicate with a variety of people from diverse cultures,
socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.
• Flexibility to meet a variety of changing priorities
• Computer skills to draft emails, memos, and reporting

Physical Requirement:

  • Lifting Up to 50 pounds, client luggage, supplies, cleaning
  • Standing Up to 8 hours per day
  • Stair climbing Most facilities, up to 20% of time
  • Driving Cars and 15 passenger vans, average 2-4 hours per day, up to 8 hours per day
  • Sitting Varies, 2 hours
  • Reaching 2 hours per day unless driving
  • Bending 10% of time
  • Squatting 10% of time
  • Walking Up to 8 hours per day
