Job Summary:
A registered nurse performs many vital duties in our office. All duties are performed based on the nursing process which includes assessing patient needs, sedation, developing a plan of action, implementing the plan, and evaluating and adjusting the plan as needed. The most important part of nursing is coordinating and seeking the most effective care for the patient. RN daily shift hours will be determined at CPS sole discretion.
*This is a PRN position that will support our New Albany, IN clinic and the surrounding areas*

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Push sedation during add-on injection blocks
- Reviewing patient’s medical information such as patient’s name, allergies, procedure, prescriptions, medical history, and medications.
- Taking vital signs
- Educating patients on the procedure(s) that will be performed, pre-operation instructions, and what they can expect.
- Obtaining informed consents for medical treatment.
- Completing all necessary charting in the EMR system.
- Assist in preparing the procedure rooms for procedures.
- Preparing the patient for procedures. (i.e. starting IV’s, instructing patients to change, escorting patients to procedure room, draping, positioning patient, and marking patient.
- Participate in providing conscious sedation as needed to select patients (with training provided by the company)
- Assisting physicians during procedures.
- Answering patients’ medical questions in person and on the telephone.
- Resolving patient complaints.
- Assist in flipping the procedure room from one procedure to the next.
- Escorting the patient to the recovery room.
- Monitoring the patient during recovery and completing the recovery section of the EMR.
- Reviewing discharge instructions and medications with the patient.
- Discharging patients and completing the discharge section of the EMR.
- Assist in ordering drugs and medical supplies used during procedures.
- Telephoning patients one day after their procedure to check on their status and documenting the telephone follow-up.
- Provide health education, including self-care and wellness issues, to patients and their families.
- Compliance with state and federal law.
- All other duties assigned including duties performed for affiliates, assigns, lessees, contractors or other third parties
Qualifications
- Registered nurses must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proficient computer skills are a plus. Individuals must be compassionate and enjoy helping others.
- Empathy and patience are highly valued qualities that one must possess.
- They must have the ability to give and follow directions effectively.
- Nurses need emotional stability, and excellent judgment to know when to consult with a physician or proceed on their own in any situation.
Education:
- All nurses must obtain and remain licensed in the state of which they practice.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.

- Requires walking and standing approximately 60% of the workday
- Ability to sit at a desk for approximately 40% of the workday
- Must be able to exert up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
