Gibson Hotel Management Inc. has an exciting career opportunity for a Selling Assistant General Manager for our beautiful Holiday Inn Express in Manchester, TN. The successful candidate will have a “hunter” mentality, with a strong capability to expand and grow new accounts and drive new business to the property. The Selling AGM responsibilities include developing and booking business through proactive prospecting calls, marketing, conducting outside appointment calls and hotel tours, maintaining relationships with current and future clients, and representing the hotel in various networking events either in person or virtually, while also directing and coordinating activities to maintain hotel efficiency of operations and maximize its full potential with a balanced focus for people, product and profit.. Specific market segments this position will cover include social, educational, religious, and small meetings.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with Supervision of all department heads.
  • Maintain positive relations with staff through timely complete communication of all items concerning their areas of supervision individually and a department as a whole.
  • Analyze with each department head their goals identified and the action steps to achieve them within the identified length of time.
  • Monitor progress on a set schedule and report achievements and problem areas to the General Manager, their effect on profitability and stability of hotel operations.
  • Ensure a positive guest experience through quality and safety of the hotel product.
  • Own and hit/exceed annual sales targets within assigned territory and accounts
  • Prospect, qualify, penetrate, and manage business opportunities
  • Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand customer base
  • Analyze market segments and develop sales strategies to build room revenue business
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations
  • Report on forces that shift tactical budgets and strategic direction of accounts

Qualifications

  • Proven and verifiable hotel sales experience, meeting, or exceeding targets
  • Manage goals and action plans to meet/exceed revenue targets
  • Ability to produce weekly and monthly reports and assist with sales forecasts
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Proven ability to articulate the distinct aspects of product and services
  • Proven ability to position hotel room sales against competitors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to foster effective relationships with staff, management, and clients
  • IHG experience a huge plus
  • Ability to travel to attend workshops, trade shows conventions, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field preferred
