In this role, you will work closely with the surgical provider and office manager to train team members and ensure a smooth operation of the surgical workflow.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

SURGICAL LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate daily flow, making sure patients are roomed timely
  • OSHA and CLIA compliance
  • Schedule and explain Mohs & excision procedures to patients
  • Make sure all Surgical MAs fully trained in all aspects of position
  • Make sure specimens sent to correct lab in a timely manner
  • Send Mohs referral letters and maintain the Mohs log and schedule
  • Work closely with office manager about writing protocols
  • Coordinate appointments between the practice and plastic surgeon / ocular for repairs
  • Oversees the instrument sterilization process & ensures MAs are following protocols in place
  • Serve as back-up surgical assistant as needed
  • Supplies inventory
  • All other duties as assigned by office manager or provider

Qualifications

SURGICAL LEAD SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven ability in establishing rapport with patients, staff, and supervisors
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead and to prioritize time
  • Proven ability in handling several surgical and office tasks simultaneously
  • Surgical dexterity, aptitude and/or experience in in a medical office/surgical setting required
  • Excellent phone etiquette and personal communication skills
  • High commitment to patient care and to portraying the best image of the practice
  • Bring daily to the workplace a cheerful personality, positive attitude, and enthusiasm

SURGICAL LEAD  EXPERIENCE

  • Previous surgical experience in a healthcare office, hospital or other medical facility required
  • Previous experience in a lead role highly desired
  • At least 1+ year of experience in assisting with surgical procedures required
  • High School diploma or equivalent
